This Weekās Thoughts. š
Throughout the past week, I have been wrangling with the idea of slowing it all down.
I read a quote this week from the famous American entrepreneur Alex Hormozi.
āThe reason itās taking so long is because youāre in a rush.
Big things donāt happen on small timelines.ā
Jeff Bezos started Amazon at 30.
Sam Walton started Walmart when he was 44.
Samuel L Jackson didnāt get Pulp Fiction until he was 45!
If you are building something, trying to build/break a particular habit, or even trying to better yourself, give yourself some time.
In a world where everything seems to move at breakneck speed, from news cycles to viral trends, itās so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that success must come quickly, or it wonāt come at all.
But the truth is meaningful thingsāwhether theyāre habits, businesses, or self-improvementārarely fit neatly into a āquick-winā timeline.
When youāre in a rush, you miss out on the present moment.
Slowing down lets you savor the small wins and notice the progress along the way.
Thereās a lot of value in the journey itself.
Quote of the Week š¬
āLife is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experiencedā
š³ļø Think Before You Tap!
Using cash for spending is a small but impactful habit that can help build financial awareness and mindfulness.
Physical Awareness of Each Purchase
Paying with cash makes each transaction more tangible, forcing you to physically handle money and witness it leaving your hand.
This awareness often leads to more conscious spending, helping you pause and consider if a purchase is truly worth it.
Easy Way to Set Limits
Cash offers a natural spending limit. Once youāve withdrawn a set amount, you know exactly how much you have to work with.
This is especially helpful for discretionary spending, like nights out or entertainment, where itās easy to go overboard with a card.
šµ The Cash-Only Challenge:
I found this while researching for this weekās newsletter.
The challenge is fully explained in the link below šļø š
The Challenge?
For the next month (maybe start with a week), letās replace the tapping your card with a cash-only rule for nights out and other ātreat yourselfā expenses.
Hereās how it works:
Set a Weekly Cash Budget ā Decide on a weekly amount youāre comfortable spending on fun. Withdraw this amount at the start of each week and use only this cash for nights out, eating out, or other extras.
The Rule: Once Itās Gone, Itās Gone ā Feel free to spend the cash however you like, but once itās gone, thatās it until next week. This keeps spending in check while allowing for some flexibility.
Why It Works
Spending cash adds a built-in limit and makes every penny feel tangible, helping you naturally avoid overspending.
Plus, it makes each experience a little more intentional, so you enjoy it that much more!
Give it a shot, and share how it goes!
Milano Half Marathon in aid of Little Orchids and Youthlife.
This section is from a friend of mine, a truly amazing cause. šļø
āMyself and a group of my friends will be running the Milano Half Marathon on the 24th of November in aid of two charities close to my heart, Youthlife and Little Orchids.
Youth life is a charity based in Derry that provides vital, free support to young people aged 5-
25 who have been affected by bereavement, separation, divorce or loss of a significant person. In August this year, my younger cousin, KĆan Dawson-Kirk and his cousin, EoghĆ”n
Dawson sadly lost their lives in a car accident aged 16 and 20 respectively. As well as providing well-needed funding for the great work Youthlife does in helping roughly 200 young people, the money we can hopefully raise can be used for the timely support of those who knew and loved KĆan and EoghĆ”n.
Little Orchids is a charitable childrenās centre providing crucial therapeutic intervention and support for 2 to 4-year-old children with complex needs and their families. These children are unable to attend other early years settings due to their high needs. The money we can hopefully raise for Little Orchids will go towards the general upkeep of the under-funded center as well as specialised equipment and training for the parents of the children.
If you can, please donate whatever you see fit to support what I believe to be two more worthy causes.
Thanks in advance to those who choose to donate or spread awareness,
